Biography
I began making soap about 10 years ago as a hobby and therapy for the stress in my life. It has become somewhat of an addiction which I still find very relaxing and comforting. Creating new formulas and experimenting with new scents is exciting too. I also began a Herbalist course a couple years ago(one of these days I may actually get it finished!!) and really have enjoyed learning about, growing and creating with herbs.
I use only high grade vegetable oils in my soaps and primarily essential oils for scenting. I do have a few soaps that contain synthetic fragrance oils and those are noted in the descriptions. I much prefer the essential oils as they are natural and don't contain petroleum products. Our skin absorbs about 60% of what is put on it and we don't need any more exposure to carcinogens than we already have!!
The name "Mother Riley's" is somewhat of nickname. Riley was my Grandpa's name and I have always wanted it to be my name, it is much more Irish sounding than Paula. I have used Riley as my online name for many years and "Mother" got added to it when I asked some on line friends for suggestions for a business name. They said "How about Mother Riley because you are always giving us advice like a mother". I liked the sound of it, earthy and Irish.....and so here I am "Mother Riley"
I am a wife, mom & step mom, a Registered Nurse and a woman who is finally feeling like I am coming into my own at 50 something. I thoroughly enjoy my family and all my wonderful friends and this hobby gives me wonderful wholesome gifts to share with them and now with you. Thank you for letting me share a small piece of my creativity with you. I hope that you will enjoy the fruits of my labor as much as I enjoy creating them.
